Garfield Boulevard Green Infrastructure and Multi-Use Pathway

Cleveland Metroparks worked with the City of Garfield Heights to establish a roadway diet that would allow the creation of a new multi-use pathway and more sustainable stormwater management system within the right-of-way. As the project's landscape architect, Boulevard Studios worked with the project and client teams to develop typical planting solutions and soils profiles for capture and treatment of water from the roadway. Currently in its Stage III documentation phase, the plans prescribe an entirely native plant palette selected for hardiness to road salt, drought conditions, and lower maintenance requirements at the basins and in planting strips that enhance and delineate the public realm from commercial parcels along the corridor.
